Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme
(FSTEP)
Human resource development is one of the key
determinants of national competitiveness
particularly in supporting demands of higher
value-added industries as well as to spur an
economy that is increasingly service
oriented and knowledge-based.
In this regard, in an effort to nurture a
pool of highly skilled and knowledgeable
workforce who will be the future industry
leaders, BNM in conjunction with all
financial institutions introduced the
Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme
(FSTEP). FSTEP is aimed at attracting high
calibre students who have recently graduated
from local and foreign institutions of
higher learning to join the industry. Funded
by the financial services industry, this
programme provides a one-year intensive
technical training in insurance and banking,
including Islamic finance and takaful. The
programme was rolled out with a first batch
of 297 candidates selected from a total of
2,900 applicants.
